The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) provided an update on pacer Ihsanullah’s injury on Monday.

The 21-year-old is away from cricket due to elbow surgery and recently underwent surgery.

“Ihsanullah is on road to recovery after spending 11 weeks in a post-operative care after suffering an elbow injury. Earlier, a doctor was flown in from England to conduct the operation in the first week of September. After the operation, the fast-bowler was placed in an elbow brace for four weeks, with a doctor and physio attending him on a daily basis at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore,” the PCB said in a press release.

“Ihsanullah’s elbow brace was removed in the fifth week after which he started his active rehabilitation. His MRI CT scans in the second week of October showed signs of recovery according to the doctors who described them as having satisfactory post-surgical appearances.

“Doctors are confident that Ihsanullah will be able to begin functional training after the completion of the 16th week of his recovery.”

Ihsanullah has been ruled out from international cricket since playing for Pakistan in the ODI series against New Zealand at home this year in April.

The pacer is unlikely to feature in the Test series against Australia towards the end of 2023 and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) next year.

The 20-year-old has played one ODI and four T20Is over the course of his brief career for the Pakistan cricket team, so far. He made his debut in the limited-overs format earlier this year.
